Square Enix has officially announced that its critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIV Online, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. The news was delivered alongside the reveal of a brand-new expansion titled Evercold, which promises to introduce a frozen, uncharted continent to the game’s sprawling world of Hydaelyn.

The Switch 2 port marks a significant milestone for the MMO, which has previously been available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida expressed excitement about bringing the game to a wider audience, stating that the team has optimized the experience for the Switch 2’s hardware capabilities. He also hinted at exclusive cosmetic items for players who purchase the Switch 2 version, though details remain scarce.
