Reaching Millions of Gamers: A Call for a Coordinated, Scalable Missional Strategy

A UK-based ministry dedicated to digital mission fields is now offering specialized training and collaborative opportunities aimed at equipping Christians to engage with the global gaming community. The initiative seeks to address the vast, largely untapped potential of the gaming world, which boasts hundreds of millions of active players worldwide.

“We’re passionate about seeing Christians in gaming communities take opportunities to share their faith online when they arise,” says Heinz Oldewage, a key figure behind the effort. According to Oldewage, the challenge is not a lack of willing believers, but a lack of strategic coordination. “We need a coordinated, scalable missional response,” he emphasizes. Many individual Christians already play games and interact within these digital spaces, but they often feel isolated or unsure how to naturally integrate their faith into conversations with fellow gamers.

The ministry’s approach focuses on equipping these individuals with practical tools and theological grounding. This includes training on how to build genuine relationships in online multiplayer environments, how to navigate sensitive topics with grace, and how to create or join existing Christian guilds and communities within popular games. The goal is to move beyond sporadic, one-off interactions toward a sustained, collective presence that can authentically reach the millions of gamers who may never step inside a traditional church building. By fostering collaboration among existing gaming ministries and individual believers, the organization hopes to transform the digital playground into a fertile mission field.
