Nex has introduced Dora Star Explorer, a new game for its Nex Playground platform that lets children guide Dora the Explorer through space-themed adventures using voice commands. This marks the first time the platform has included microphone-enabled gameplay featuring Nickelodeon characters.
In Dora Star Explorer, kids speak directly to the screen to help Dora navigate obstacles, collect stars, and solve simple puzzles. The game responds to verbal cues like "jump," "duck," and "spin," encouraging active participation rather than passive watching. Nex designed the experience for children aged three to six, aiming to blend physical movement with vocal interaction.
The game uses the Nex Playground's built-in camera and microphone to track both body motions and voice inputs. This dual-input approach allows children to shout commands while also jumping or waving their arms to control Dora's actions on screen. Nex says the game adapts difficulty based on the child's age and skill level, keeping tasks challenging but not frustrating.
Dora Star Explorer is available now as a free download for existing Nex Playground owners. The company plans to add more voice-enabled games in the coming months, though it has not announced which characters or themes will appear next. For now, the focus remains on expanding the Playground's library with interactive titles that get kids moving and talking.
