A Connecticut man is facing a potential life sentence after being charged with forcing an 8-year-old boy to send him sexually explicit photos and videos. Federal prosecutors announced the charges on Wednesday, alleging the suspect used an online video game platform to target the child.

According to court documents, the man demanded the explicit material in exchange for allowing the boy to play video games with him online. The investigation revealed that the suspect communicated with the child through a gaming chat feature, gradually building trust before making the coercive demands. The boy complied out of fear of losing access to the game and the social connection it provided.

The case was uncovered after the child's parent noticed suspicious activity on the gaming device and contacted local law enforcement. A subsequent investigation by the FBI led to the arrest. The suspect is now charged with production of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
