Larian Just Revealed Some Very Telling Baldur's Gate 3 Player Stats

Larian Studios just dropped a fresh batch of player statistics for Baldur's Gate 3, and some of the numbers are a little wild. The studio shared the data as part of a community update, and while some stats are expected, others might make you raise an eyebrow.

For starters, the most popular class remains the Paladin, which makes sense given the game's focus on dialogue choices and moral dilemmas. But here is where it gets interesting: a huge chunk of players are apparently choosing the Dark Urge origin, which pushes you toward violent and cruel options. That is not exactly a surprise, but the percentage is higher than many would have guessed.

Another telling stat involves romance. Over 70 percent of players have completed at least one romance arc, and the most pursued companion is Shadowheart, with Karlach coming in a close second. But the more concerning number is how many players have let their companions die permanently. Nearly half of all playthroughs end with at least one companion dead, and a decent chunk of those deaths happen in Act 1 because people just do not pay attention to the environment.

The real eyebrow raiser, though, is the save scumming stat. Larian says that players reload their saves an average of 18 times per hour during combat encounters. That is a lot of retries. It suggests that most people are not playing on the default difficulty, or they are just really bad at positioning their spellcasters. Either way, it is a bit concerning how often players are willing to undo their mistakes.

Larian also noted that about 15 percent of players have never finished the game, despite putting in over 50 hours. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does show that the game is huge and people get distracted by side quests and loot. So, if you are one of those players who has restarted five times and still has not seen the credits, you are not alone.
